Four companies are taking part in the 2012 Lions’ Lair competition at Lab Innovations.
The Dragons’ Den inspired initiative, which is taking place at Lab Innovations, will see the four companies pitch their newest technologies.
The judging panel includes, Kirsty Holmes, Laboratory Manager at Bernard Matthews and Jay Bhatta, Analytical Chemist at Premier Foods.
There will then be a vote by show visitors, watching the proceedings, in order to find the overall winner.
Polar Bear Plus
Cambridge Reactor Design is entering its Polar Bear Plus family of products.
Each product in the range accurately delivers temperatures from -40C to 150C at the push of a button, without solvents, ice, heat transfer fluids or other peripherals.
The range includes the Polar Bear Plus Crystal, developed with input from the chemists at SAFC Pharmorphix®, it achieves the temperature gradients, profiling and cycling required to suit crystallisation investigations. Also in the line-up is the Polar Bear Plus Flow Synthesiser.
Designed in collaboration with Professor Steven Ley’s chemists at the University of Cambridge, it offers flexibility and control over temperatures for continuous chemistry reactions.
Lab-Bubble
CTS Europe will be looking to impress the ‘Lions’ with Lab-Bubble, a new type of bench mounted containment hood, which is having its global launch at the show.
The UK designed, built, and supported Lab- Bubble is a re-circulatory hood. Fully performance tested and designed as an entry unit to the general laboratory market, the Lab-Bubble comes in 5 different modes.
These are designed for general safety, chemical handling and weighing, PCR, bio-logical cabinet function, glove box and climatic control environments.
Quest ATR
Specac is entering its new Quest ATR. Specac claims that this latest ATR (attenuated total reflectance) accessory is the most significant innovation in the IR spectroscopy market for over ten years.
Quest’s key features include a strong and durable monolithic diamond, an extended wavelength capability from 10,000 to 40 wavenumbers, high spectral quality and high throughput, an interchangeable diamond, ZnSe, and GE crystal puck options.
2950 Biochemistry Analyser
YSI’s 2950 Biochemistry Analyser will also be making its UK debut when it goes before the ‘Lions’.
With the ability to measure a wide range of important chemistries, sugars and nutrients, it will interest lab professionals visiting the show from food & beverage, bioprocess, biofuels and biopharma sectors.
The 2950 is configurable with up to 3 sensor modules capable of measuring up to six chemistries from an extensive list, including ISE measurement of Ammonium and Potassium. The analyser provides accurate results in less than a minute.
Lions’ Lair takes place on the first day of the Lab Innovations show.
The two-day show also features a full range of exhibitors- over 30% of which are launching new products or services..
