Never say that we don't bring you the most interesting and topical application stories on Laboratorytalk...
The meat industry and its products have to comply with very
strict hygiene regulations.
Veterinary research is therefore
When researching certain germs and bacteria in
pigs' manure, the prepared carriers of the bacteria are
infected by the samples.
The samples are cultivated on a
foodstuff, which is injected into the carrier (usually Agar) and
allowed to multiply.
The samples are then studied under the
microscope and the results of the cultivation further analysed.
The Verderlab peristaltic dosing pump is used in such
applications, first to dose the Agar into petri dishes and then
to dose the prepared sample onto the Agar.
The Verderlab CD 70
has been chosen for such procedures because it meets GMP
regulations and with its smooth stainless steel housing it
provides a complete, reliable dosing system.
Agar is a difficult
product to dose because it is very viscous and its temperature
can reach up to 80C.
In this application the amount of agar to be
dosed needs to be very accurate.
In between several dosings,
intervals must be pre-programmed to enable the dishes to be
changed and also to allow changes to the total number of dishes
that need to be filled.
All media pumped must be clean,
reproducible and documented.
Many research labs are choosing
Verderlab pumps because they are the specialist pump for viscous,
sterile and aggressive reagents.
