Ocean Optics will distribute Polychromix's near infrared (NIR) digital transform spectrometer (DTS) product family to deliver compact and versatile chemical analysis systems at unprecedented low costs
Polychromix and Ocean Optics have announced a worldwide distribution agreement to market cost-effective spectroscopy solutions for general purpose applications.
The partnership allows Ocean Optics to add to its spectroscopy portfolio by distributing Polychromix's near infrared (NIR) digital transform spectrometer (DTS) product family to deliver compact and versatile chemical analysis systems at unprecedented low costs.
Ocean Optics, part of the multinational Halma group of safety and detection companies, is a diversified electro-optics company and claims to be a global leader in optical sensing, display optics and biophotonics technologies.
Ocean Optics is partnering with companies such as Polychromix to provide the market with best-of-breed technologies to offer customers a broad array of solutions to fit their spectroscopy demands.
With more than 50,000 optical sensing systems sold, Ocean Optics says it offers applications expertise that few manufacturers can match.
"The optical-sensing market has long demanded the sort of low-cost NIR system that Polychromix now offers," said Mike Morris, president of Ocean Optics.
"The DTS technology is the sort of novel, interesting and affordable technology that makes NIR spectroscopy more accessible to a wider range of users, for an even wider range of applications".
Spectroscopy is used widely in a broad variety of research and process applications, including material identification, quantitative analysis, purity analysis, quality control and material inspection.
Polychromix's DTS technology uses an innovative Mems spatial light modulator in a portable form factor, featuring a single InGaAs detector and no moving parts.
In addition, the devices feature low power consumption, utilising a standard USB connection for both communications and power interfaces.
"Ocean Optics is the world leader in spectroscopy solutions, so it is a real testament to our DTS solution that they are distributing it within their award-winning spectroscopy product portfolio.
"Through Ocean Optics, Polychromix products now have global reach and support," said Mouli Ramani, vice president of marketing and business development for Polychromix.
"Our Mems architecture works perfectly within the spectroscopy market because it provides a portable, cost-effective device never before offered, and its flexibility enables companies to use the devices for a broader set of new applications".
Ocean Optics will distribute the DTS product family, consisting of three spectrometer versions: the DTS-1700 covering the 900-1700nm range, the DTS-2500 covering the 1700-2500nm NIR range and the DTS-NB high-resolution version for specific high-resolution applications.
