Software seamlessly stores, retrieves and analyses infrared images and data direct from the camera allowing in-depth and precise evaluation of thermal performance
Where detailed thermal analysis of dynamic events is required, Flir Systems says the latest version of its ThermaCam Researcher adds a new level of power and flexibility.
This is the first in a new generation of scientific software to extend its application beyond the ThermaCam S and A series cameras to Flir's midwave range including the Merlin and Phoenix (InSb, InGaAs) and the uncooled, miniature ThermoVision A10.
Version 2.8.1 also supports Windows XP D-CAM and gigabit ethernet.
2.8.1 Researcher 2.8.1 seamlessly stores, retrieves and analyses infrared images and data direct from the camera allowing in-depth and precise evaluation of thermal performance, says Flir.
This new software is available in three versions - with FireWire interface, a PC card camera interface, and a parallel camera interface.
The choice depends on the hosting camera and specific application requirements.
The IEEE 1394 FireWire option provides the benefit to ThermaCam S series and A series users of full 50Hz image and data transfer of real-time, full radiometric 14-bit Jpeg images.
The software provides powerful built-in measurement functions for fast and extensive temperature analysis including isotherms, spot measurements, line profiles, area histograms and image subtraction.
All measurement tools allow independent emissivity and distance settings.
This analysis can be performed in real time or on previously recorded sequences.
Unmatched flexibility is provided by a combination of features, the company claims.
These include flexible screen layout enabling automatic adjustments for best possible image, user definable recording conditions, sequence editing, customisable measurement tool graphics, comprehensive results tables and OLE technology.
Uniquely, this new software can also export data to other packages in formats such as AVI, BMP and Jpeg, while data file formats include Excel and Matlab and is fully compatible with all Windows-based word processing packages for easy report generation.
For using images in the ThermaCam RTools data acquisition and analysis suite of software the Standard Archive Format, SAF, is also available.
This latest version of ThermaCam Researcher is available in two options, Researcher Basic for analysis of static images, and Researcher Pro for real-time infrared image and data analysis.
