As a service to the mass spectrometry community, a reduced version of Reliance's QMF computer model has been made available for general use on the internet.
Reliance has been granted the US Patent No 6,940,068 for apparatus and method used to improve the filtering action of a quadrupole mass filter (QMF).
This follows the granting of the equivalent UK Patent in the previous year.
The improved filtering is achieved by reducing a precursor fault caused by an asymmetric electrical field between a pair of opposing electrode rods in the Y-axis of a quadrupole mass filter.
Quadrupole mass filter technology covered by: US Patent No 6,940,068 granted 6 September 2005; UK Patent No 2390222 granted 19 May 2004; EP Application No 04767964.2.
For over 20 years Reliance has manufactured components and assemblies for use in high vacuums.
These include sub-assemblies for quadrupole mass spectrometers, other ion beam handling components and vacuum housings.
