DiagnOx, the UK membership network for diagnostics researchers, companies, and support organisations, has appointed Lin Bateson as the new network manager
Lin Bateson will be based at Cherwell Innovation Centre, Oxfordshire, where she will provide business support, signposting to services and networking opportunities for tenant companies of the DiagnOx Laboratory, and members of the DiagnOx network.
Bateson joins DiagnOx after heading the Oxfordshire Bioscience Network, managing its growth and sustainability to bring the network into the 'golden triangle' of UK biotechnology.
Under her leadership, the network expanded its membership five-fold, attracted over 20 new sponsors and supporting organisations, and engaged with regional and government initiatives, culminating in the Oxfordshire Bioscience Cluster Report 2005, endorsed by science minister David Sainsbury.
Her other recent experience includes running a successful international partnering company and contributions to European and UK biotech and pharma strategy through involvement in several government funded projects.
Previously, Bateson worked in diagnostic endocrinology and GMP production, and developed a professional healthcare information service.
Lin Bateson said: "I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to manage the DiagnOx Network, which plays a key role in helping diagnostic researchers and companies develop their ideas and innovations into new ventures.
"I am excited by the prospect of working with existing DiagnOx members and welcome new enquiries from people looking for help in taking their diagnostic ideas forward.
"We will continue to provide quality services and events, advice and help with issues such as fundraising, IP protection, regulatory compliance and collaborative opportunities".
Lisa Mynheer, DiagnOx director, said: "Lin Bateson brings substantial experience in operations management and networking.
"She joins us at a time when DiagnOx is expanding in response to demand for its successful services and facilities".
DiagnOx is managed by Oxford Innovation which specialises in the provision of services to entrepreneurs and innovative start-up companies.
The DiagnOx Laboratory, managed by Maureen Peters of the DiagnOx team, is a unique laboratory and office facility that enables researchers and entrepreneurs with medical diagnostic technologies to work in a cost-effective and supportive environment.
