Two months before the opening of Achema 2006 in Frankfurt on 15 May 2006, exhibitor numbers are demonstrating very positive trends.
Despite the effect of mergers and acquisitions in the chemical processing industry over the last three years, almost 3800 exhibitors have already booked space, and the final total is expected to match or exceed the 2003 total figure of 3819.
The laboratory and analytical area has nearly 800 exhibitors booked, which is in line with the figure for 2003.
The UK has the largest overseas group, with a total of 60 exhibitors, which will make Achema the largest global laboratory show for UK companies in 2006.
In the exhibition as a whole, space bookings from companies from outside of Germany are already at a record level of 1650, an almost 10% increase over the previous high.
A total of 47 countries will be represented at the exhibition.
Of the around 200 UK exhibitors in total, more than one-third will be exhibiting at Achema for the first time.
Apart from the UK, a steady growth in exhibitor numbers has been seen from USA, Italy and France, but the major impact is from India, China and South Korea, each with increases in the 50-100% range.
In all, almost 250 exhibitors from the Asia/Pacific region will be showing their products and services at Achema 2006.
Endorsing the truly international nature of Achema, the associated congress has around 800 technical papers presented by speakers from 30 countries and five continents.
Whilst it is too early to assess the likely visitor numbers, a figure of around 200,000 can be confidently projected, with at least 50,000 from outside of Germany.
