Barloworld Scientific has updated its popular range of E-Mil thermometers in order to keep in line with modern laboratory safety requirements.
In recent years many laboratories have moved away from the use of mercury thermometers and some have even imposed a total ban on their use.
As well as traditional mercury filled thermometers, the new E-Mil range now incorporates thermometers filled with blue spirit.
Blue spirit has properties that make it the ideal alternative to mercury.
Made from organic material specially chosen to achieve the lowest practical level of hazard, it has none of the serious safety and disposal problems associated with mercury, while its bright blue colour is easily visible against a white background in order to give accurate readings.
