Scientific Instruments (SSI) announces the launch of ProminenceMD (HPLC method development system), a system optimized for heavy use by multiple users
There exist on the market several systems that, through software algorithms based on chromatographic principles, allow a user to optimize a separation.
For these systems to be used properly, some knowledge of what analytes are to be separated is required.
For complete unknowns or degradation studies the analyte list may be uncertain.
The ProminenceMD system is an automated method development system that allows the user to observe various separation conditions by actually injecting samples onto a set of columns with different chemistries using mulitple solvent systems.
In this way, the user has the best chance to detect hidden or co-eluting peaks from completely unknown samples.
This serves as a critical step in early drug development, natural product isolation, synthetic reaction tracking and many other possible areas where sample constituents may not be totally identified.
An automated system from injection to report generation, the ProminenceMD method development tool is designed for use in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food and beverage, and university settings.
The system is designed to handle both large numbers of samples and a variety of users, eliminating concern about instrument operation while making the input of sample information possible with minimal mouse clicks.
The ProminenceMD automates instrument initialization, column flushing and equilibration, sample injection, and data collection and comparison, thereby providing greater lab efficiency.
To make the user experience easier, ProminenceMD features simple configuration and method builder screens, automatic report printing, email/phone notification, and administrator-assigned default methods for columns that eliminate the need to create separation methods for screening samples.
When printing is enabled, reports print automatically at the end of the run.
The email feature delivers those reports directly to the user's desktop.
The phone notification system sends a text message announcing completion of sample runs that require immediate attention.
With the ability to configure four solvent pairs and up to ten columns, the ProminenceMD's Stacked Plot Report option allows the user to compare separations of a single sample on multiple columns with all of the different solvents to determine which set of conditions results in the best separation.
Other features include automatic flushing of flow lines whenever a solvent pair is changed, and the ability to save analytical methods for automatic scale-up conversion to preparative conditions.
