The Council of European Bioregions (CEBR) is calling for new members to join in forming a cohesive network to focus on improving European biotech industry performance
The Council of European Bioregions (CEBR), a network for European biotech support organisations was launched at the start of April 2006 and is calling for new members to join in forming a cohesive network to focus on improving European biotech industry performance.
CEBR membership is open to regional biocommunity representatives, who can join as members or to organisations that wish to work with European biotechs, who can become Associates.
While CEBR is supported by EU FP6 funding, CEBR membership is free, so registering now is strongly recommended.
Additionally, biocommunity representatives who join CEBR before June will have the opportunity of attending a free two day inaugural CEBR meeting on 1-2 June 2006 in Cambridge, UK.
This interesting event includes presentations from biotechs on the support they need in business development, finance, human resources, incubation plus a showcase of good practice in support activities New support activities will be devised by Members in specific workshops and the meeting closes with a debate on how different countries can collaborate to eliminate fragmentation in the European biotech industry.
The conference dinner is at the world famous Fitzwilliam Museum where delegates can socialise while viewing the museum's treasures.
CEBR is administered by ERBI, Europe's leading regional bio industry group, and directed by a steering group composed of 12 leading and developing biotech network organisations from across Europe, including Munich, Paris and Barcelona among others.
The steering group's input will ensure that CEBR becomes a highly effective networking organisation.
Jeff Solomon, CEO of ERBI, commented: "One reason behind successful biotechs is the excellent networks which they use to leverage the expertise and support they need".
"With CEBR we want to recreate this scenario for the whole of Europe and have a collaborative network which provides direct support to biotech companies and shares best practice between regional biocommunities".
"If we can do this, I am confident we will build a highly competitive European biotechnology industry."
