Photonic Products, a UK optoelectronics device manufacturer and laser diode specialist, has been honoured for the second time with a Queen's Award for Enterprise in the international trade category
The accolade was announced on the UK monarch's 80th birthday.
Over the last three years export sales, (80% of total revenue), have more than doubled, resulting in the creation of 30 new jobs, with more in the pipeline.
Tony Pope, managing director of Photonic Products said, "We are honoured to receive a second Queen's Award".
"It shows that small organisations with a highly dedicated staff can still win prestigious awards and provides a perfect demonstration to our overseas customers of the quality of the service we provide." In the last five years, the company's manufacturing business has grown by over 600% in response to worldwide customer demand for its laser diode modules and optical components, and it has invested in cutting edge manufacturing technology to give increased capacity and considerable gains in productivity.
The company's rapid growth prompted its recent move to new premises with a production area of 1242 square metres, giving plenty of room for further expansion.
Damon Cookman, operations director, added, "We have seen our manufacturing business increase significantly year on year, almost eclipsing our original laser diode distribution business, and it makes us all very proud to receive royal recognition for our hard work."
