The Spiral method allows rapid bacterial enumeration while avoiding all or part of the intermediary dilutions
The working principle is the following: A logarithmically decreasing volume of sample is dispensed on the surface of a rotating Petri dish in a Archimedes spiral.
The volume is calibrated and known at every point of the Petri dish.
Bacterial concentration is determined by dividing the number of colonies found by the volume dispensed in the same sector of the dish.
The micro-processor Spiral Plater DS+ allows rapid bacterial enumeration in a range of 200 to 400,000cfu/ml on one single 90mm Petri dish (even up to 4,000,000cfu/ml on a 150mm plate).
The Spiral method means big savings: it eliminates serial dilutions and saves lab technician time, it is automatic, economical (consumables), fast, reliable and repeatable.
Spiral Plater's applications are numerous: Food control, bactericidal cinetics, MIC, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics (challenge test).
