Bespak, a designer, developer and manufacturer of medical devices, dominated the Plastics Industry Awards 2006, taking home a record-breaking three awards on the night
The company won 'Best Health and Safety Programme', 'Best Environmental or Energy Efficiency Programme' and the coveted 'Processor of the Year' awards.
In naming Bespak 'Processor of the Year' the judging panel described the company as "an extremely well-run multinational operation that has built an enviable business reputation through strong product niches that have enabled it to continue to strongly grow its business." Awarding Bespak the 'Best Environmental or Energy Efficiency Programme', the judges felt that Bespak demonstrated a high level of commitment to environmental issues.
They added that in the environmental field Bespak is an "exemplary company" that should be held up as a "role model" for the UK plastics industry.
Bespak also scooped the 'Best Health and Safety Programme' award in a year that has witnessed reductions in injuries by 17.5% and lost time due to accidents by a staggering 87.5%.
Tony Mallet, who received a 'Highly Commended' in the 'Apprentice or Trainee of the year', was described by the panel as "an extremely talented and self-motivated individual".
"Tony represents an exemplary model of an engineering apprentice in terms of personality, behaviour and disposition as well as in academic and vocational studies", the judges concluded.
Barry Munson, technical manager at Bespak, commented: "It is the first time in the history of this event that one company has won three awards".
"These awards are a direct reflection of our world-leading status, our commitment to continuous improvement and the quality of the people we employ."
