Staubli Robotics has announced the signing of a partner agreement with Cognex, leading world supplier of machine vision systems and industrial identification
This agreement aims to promote automated solutions equipped with vision systems using Cognex products.
This partnership will allow the companies' clients to benefit from the coming together of two market leading products, reputed for their performance, flexibility, ruggedness and their ease of use, says Staubli.
Machine vision is used in a growing number of robotic applications and allows businesses of all sizes to achieve significant increased productivity, making them more competitive on their markets.
Cognex and Staubli have a large international presence serving clients all over the world.
Patrice Denizard, director of sales for Cognex in France, said: "This agreement formalises years of casual cooperation and is an important step in our robotic strategy.
"It complements several initiatives taken in InSight product development, notably Patmax, an industry-leading geometric pattern matching software for location of form and form recognition, supported by the remote head version of the InSight 5000 series which is compatible with standard robotic cables and connections.
"This association with Staubli, a global actor in this market, will ensure our ability to develop in this rapidly expanding market of vision guided robots (VGR)".
Staubli positions itself as a global supplier of a unique and complete product range on the robotics market including small, medium and large with six axes and weighing from one to 220kg.
These product ranges include robots specialized in painting, molding and clean room as part of the standard range as well as the possibility to choose from a range of robots guided by the same controlling CS8 platform.
Cognex designs, develops, manufactures, and markets machine vision systems, or computers that can 'see'.
Cognex is the world's leader in the machine vision industry, having shipped more than 300,000 machine vision systems, representing over $2 billion in cumulative revenue, since the company's founding in 1981.
Cognex specializes in machine vision systems that are used for automating the manufacture of a wide range of discrete items and for assuring their quality.
It also specializes in machine vision systems that are used for inspecting the surfaces of products manufactured in a continuous fashion, such as metals, papers and plastics.
