Positive Light, a provider of advanced solid-state lasers, marked its 12-year anniversary in March 2003
Growing from a five person operation in Los Gatos, CA to a dynamic 65+ employee company with distributors worldwide, Positive Light supplies the scientific and industrial community with pulsed solid-state lasers that set the industry standard for engineering quality, beam quality, performance, and high peak power.
Over the past 12 years, the company has achieved several technical advancements.
In 1993 Positive Light developed the Spitfire, a multi-kilohertz Ti:sapphire regenerative amplifier that became the foundation for all of the company's future ultrafast and custom lasers.
Five years later, Positive Light developed the Evolution, the first kilohertz, intra-cavity doubled, Q-switched DPSS Nd:YLF laser for pumping Ti:sapphire.
Technological advancements continued in 2001 with the creation of the Indigo-DUV laser, the first solid-state, single frequency, 193 nm source designed specifically for optical metrology of lithography stepper optics.
"The recent acquisition of Positive Light by Coherent will ensure our commitment to providing our customers with superior products today and into the future" said Jeremy Weston, president of Positive Light.
