Scientific and Chemical (SciChem) has won a £200,000 annual contract with Dairy Farmers of Britain (DFB) to supply the organisation's laboratory requirements, testing resources and general equipment
During the life of the contract, SciChem will supply a wide range of products, from general laboratory equipment to items specifically developed for the dairy industry, to 11 processing sites throughout the UK - stretching from Blaydon in the north east to Cricket St Thomas in Somerset.
The order is a significant one for the Bilston based company, as Dairy Farmers of Britain is the leading dairy farmers' co-operative in the UK, marketing almost two billion litres of high quality milk per year, from more than 2800 member farms.
Each year DFB processes more than one billion litres of milk into 600 different dairy products; almost 40 million litres of raw milk is marketed each week; and the organisation is also responsible for selling milk on the doorstep to more than 120,000 households across England and Wales every morning.
Gerald Bullivant, sales director for Scientific and Chemical commented, "We're delighted to have been appointed by such a high profile organisation and are confident that they will be satisfied both with the breadth of equipment we can offer and our commitment to customer service." Regis Noe, purchasing manager for Dairy Farmers of Britain added: "The decision to place the group contract for laboratory supplies with SciChem was based on their competitiveness in three areas: cost, service and independence of laboratory equipment manufacturers.
"I am confident SciChem can advise DFB Quality Assurance managers on their requirements and come up with the best value for money solutions that can be found in the market."
