Analytical Spectral Devices (ASD) has been awarded the 2006 IQ (Innovation Quotient) Award in the medical and health products category for its RxSpec drug verification technology.
The IQ Award is presented by the Boulder County Business Report, in recognition of outstanding technological contributions by businesses located in the Boulder Valley region.
RxSpec is used in a pharmacy to examine drugs directly in the dispensing vials and to confirm that the correct drug and dosage are being dispensed.
Utilizing advanced analytical and imaging technology, the system reads the chemical composition and dosage of a drug and then compares the information with a drug identification library.
The system can then confirm quality compliance with FDA drugs.
The patented technology is the only product in the marketplace that confirms the composition of prescription medications in pill and tablet form.
"We are honored to receive this recognition out of such a highly qualified field of competition," says David Rzasa, president and CEO.
"ASD currently holds seven patents related to this technology, and this award further exemplifies our vision, expertise, and leadership in the industrial market place."
