Due to an upturn in the market, optical metrology company Armstrong Optical has added two new personnel to swell the ranks
Rob Roach returns after an absence of just under two years, apparently deciding that he couldn't keep away.
His role will be to develop the sales of optical components and subassemblies from suppliers such as Swiss Optics, Sydor Optics and Optics Technology - all of whom address different niches in the market place.
In addition Roach will bring a wide-ranging knowledge of laser technology and look at opening new markets for Armstrong's extensive portfolio of metrology products.
The new position of office manager is being filled by Angie Routledge.
Routledge's task is to look after all aspects of the administration side of this rapidly expanding business and to act as the first-line response to customer enquiries.
Routledge will also be the in-house resource for product information and customer liaison.
Ian Johnstone, director of sales and marketing, welcomed the pair by saying that "the addition of Angie and Rob to Armstrong will add more than just extra hands to the team.
"It will also enable us to be much more proactive in our approach to a very rapidly changing market place.
"With the recent launch of the Photonics Knowledge Transfer Network by the DTI we can expect to see photonics technology become a major focus for the UK".
