Attitude and heading reference unit forms an integral part of the control architecture for an autonomous underwater vehicle used for marine science, underwater archaeology, and industrial inspection
One of Inertial Aerosystems's high tech products, the MTi attitude and heading reference unit, forms an integral part of the control architecture for an autonomous underwater vehicle used for marine science, underwater archaeology, industrial inspection such as dams, harbours, offshore equipment.
The unit is designed to measure full motion and magnetic heading in three dimensions referenced to gravity and magnetic north and optimised for stability and flexibility by an internal DSP.
Measuring 58x58x22mms and weighing only 50grams it is ideal for where space and weight are at a premium.
RS232 and RS422 interfaces are available.
The main function of the unit is to determine the attitude and heading of the unmanned vehicle so as to stabilise and monitor its 3D motion and direction.
The MTi is exceptionally fast, taking only 6/7ms from the physical event until the reception of the orientation at the processor.
This is only one of the applications of this versatile and innovative product which can also be usefully applied to land based and aerospace motion measurements.
