Application deadlines fast approaching for educational grants for Chicago area elementary, middle, and high schools; colleges; and universities, in connection with Pittcon 2007
The Pittsburgh Conference announced its educational programmes for science teachers and students, as well as grant award deadlines for its annual Science Week programme held in conjunction with Pittcon 2007, McCormick Place, Chicago, Illinois.
Science Week (February 24 - March 1, 2007) is an educational outreach programme conducted during the annual Pittcon expo and conference in the host city.
In addition to educational programmes, Science Week offers workshops for students, a Thursday morning lecture accompanied by a demonstration, and workshops for local science teachers.
Net financial proceeds from the conference are used to fund educational programmes and institutions promoting science education for students from elementary to post secondary level institutions.
Additionally, several grants are awarded to support scientific education at the middle school, high school, college, and university level.

Pittcon 2007 Science Education Award.
Application deadline is October 31, 2006.
Up to $25,000 will be awarded to a Greater Chicago Area or surrounding county educational institution, business, or school district that submits the best proposal for furthering science education in the region.
Citation for Excellence in Teaching.
Application deadline is November 22, 2007.
Awards of $500 will be made to elementary, middle and high schools teachers who demonstrate outstanding commitment and achievement in science education.
Science Equipment Grants.
Application deadline is December 1, 2006.
Awards of up to $500 in materials for elementary and middle schools and up to $1000 in materials for high schools will be made for worthy proposals submitted by teachers or groups of teachers.
