Anton Paar has published an application note on the quality control of edible oils and fats using its Abbemat 200 refractometer.
The quality of edible oils and fats needs to be ensured and documented, whilst saving time and avoiding human error.
The application note explains how edible oils and fats can be reliably identified by refractive index or butyro value.
Abbemat refractometers from Anton Paar are designed to perform the task in compliance with ISO, AOAC and FSSAI standards.
In addition the oleic and linoleic acid ratio of peanut seeds and oils can be determined by an Abbemat 500 and 550 - helping to increase the shelf life of products containing peanut oil.
