An application report from Anton Paar explains what has to be considered when performing microwave-assisted extractions.
Classical extraction methods, such as Soxhlet can be time-consuming and require high amounts of solvents. Automation possibilities are also limited.
With typical extraction times of between 15 and 30 minutes for typical solvent amounts of 6 and 50 mL, Microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) is a powerful and meanwhile widely accepted method to speed up extraction applications.
Anton Paar provides two different reactors for MAE applications. Depending on the preferred workflow and required sample and solvent amount, either Monowave 450 or Multiwave PRO SOLV can be used.
