ChemSW introduced in November 2002 two new modules for its CISPro CIS chemical inventory system, to help users meet evolving hazardous material inventory statement (HMIS) reporting requirements
The new software modules produce accurate documents formatted to meet both International Fire Code (IFC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) code requirements.
A new fire code classification database is also available, providing values for over 8000 potentially hazardous chemicals.
The new modules were developed in collaboration with nationally recognized consultant Jeff Tartar, principal of Integrated Engineering Services (San Jose, California).
Code specifications throughout the country are currently being consolidated, requiring many companies to change the way in which they issue fire code reports.
At the same time, enforcement efforts have intensified, making report accuracy more important than ever.
Additionally, biotech and pharmaceutical companies are producing more chemicals as a result of automation, generating more regulatory attention.
"The forms that environmental health and safety personnel must complete are complex and voluminous, and accuracy is critical," explains Pat Spink, vice president of ChemSW.
"The database from Integrated Engineering Services is the most comprehensive available and helps users compile the information for their reports.
"Access to this database and our formatted reporting, along with our regular updates on code changes, significantly streamlines the production of accurate reports".
"ChemSW's CISPro System provides accurate, real-time chemical tracking information," explains Jeff Tartar.
"The reporting modules enable the easy transformation of that chemical inventory information into the exact formats required for building and fire code compliance."
