ClinPhone is opening new offices in Melbourne, Australia, following the company's growing success in the Asia-Pacific region
The new facility, which is due to open on 31 October 2006, will provide ClinPhone's first presence in the area.
This is the latest development in ClinPhone's exceptional growth over the past 12 months, which has seen new offices opening in California and North Carolina, alongside the expansion of the Chicago operation and the relocation of the New Jersey office to larger premises.
From inception, the Australian offices will provide both business development and operations capabilities to support the Australian and wider Asian markets.
ClinPhone already has a number of large pharmaceutical clients based in Australia, many of which are the regional bases for major global companies.
The location of the new offices means that ClinPhone will be able to provide its existing clients within the region with a more consultative service through a face-to-face contact point.
Kevin Wightman will head up the new offices as business development director and will be joined by Luke Stevens who will fill the role of technical project analyst.
Kevin has worked at ClinPhone's UK headquarters for five years and has extensive previous experience of working in Australia and Japan with leading CRO and pharmaceutical companies.
Australia and Asia are currently strong and growing markets for R+D in the pharmaceutical industry; although still relatively small on a global scale the market is extremely innovative with significant biotechnology activity.
Australia has a number of centres of excellence, particularly in the Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane areas.
ClinPhone has established offices in this region in anticipation of the growth in activity over the coming decade.
Kevin Wightman, business development director at ClinPhone, comments: "There is a huge market potential in the Asia-Pacific region both in the long and short-term.
"As well as supporting our Australian clients, the new offices will provide the perfect opportunity to establish our presence in the growing regions of Asia.
"ClinPhone already works with a number of Japanese companies in both the US and European markets and through our new presence in the region we hope to build on these foundations by developing effective relationships with the Japanese head offices."
