Olympus life and material science Europa - Diagnostics, has announced it is entering a new market segment, veterinary diagnostics, with its proven AU chemistry system family
Over the past few years, Olympus has developed and tested a series of veterinary applications for its AU400 system in a range of selected laboratories in the US and Europe.
Following their satisfactory completion, the company is formally launching into this growing and diverse market, specifically targeting zoological, equine and livestock laboratories.
According to product manager Peter Rene Hesse, the AU400, the smallest member of the AU system family is particularly suited for the veterinary market: "First and foremost Olympus analysers are renowned for their reliability.
"The AU400 already has an installed base running into thousands worldwide.
"Veterinary laboratories can therefore make what is a major investment for many of them with complete confidence.
"In addition, the AU400 as with the entire AU range is easy for laboratory staff to learn and operate, and provides both the throughput and flexibility to cope with varying routines.
"Increasingly we also find that once introduced, demand for testing rises exponentially - and here again investing in Olympus provides the answer.
"The family concept allows an easy upgrade if higher throughput is required and being an open system it is easy to adopt a third party assay if the required assay is not yet offered by Olympus.
"Our R+D team in Ireland have also worked hard to adapt assay reference ranges for an incredible range of animals - from dolphins and turtles through to race horses and prize cattle.
"When you look at the insurance value of these animals, it is no surprise that owners are calling for continuous improvements in testing.
"By installing state-of-the-art equipment proven in the human diagnostics field, such as the AU400, veterinary laboratories can successfully respond."
