Company's recent success in Ireland begins when it was selected to furnish laboratories for Fusion Antibodies, a therapeutic research and discovery company performing bioscience contract research
With over 25 years experience in the design, manufacture and installation of laboratory furniture and fume cupboards, Yorkshire UK-based Kinetic Concepts says it is enjoying the success of its recent venture into the Irish market.
Renewed confidence in the area has meant that Northern Ireland is fast becoming known as the new Celtic Tiger due to its reputation in terms of business and investment, which has been quickly recognised by the Kinetic team as it seized the opportunity to work with Fusion Antibodies and Ivex Pharmaceuticals .
Bill Longbone, managing director at Kinetic Concepts , said: "We have an excellent reputation throughout the UK for providing high quality laboratory furniture which is specially designed to meet the precise requirements of today's scientific, technical and medical professionals.
"Our recent projects in Ireland have been considerably successful in increasing our existing client base and allowing us to build relationships with contacts outside of the UK mainland".
The recent success story in Ireland begins when Kinetic was selected to furnish laboratories for Fusion Antibodies, a therapeutic research and discovery company offering contract research to the bio-science industry.
Having decided to move its operation to new premises in the Poleglass area of Belfast, Fusion was conscious of the fact that it could not afford any downtime in production as a result of the move.
Within the assigned time and budget, the Kinetic team transformed the premises into a sophisticated state-of-the-art facility, featuring purpose built laboratories to complement and maximise the natural lighting of the building.
The project involved the installation of electrical installation, flooring, IT cabling, mechanical services, laboratory furniture and decoration of the full building, Kinetic designed and installed a benching system of powder coated steel framework with Trespa acid-resistant worktops.
Mark McCurley, laboratory manager of Fusion Antibodies said: "It was a unique experience to be involved with the development of the laboratories from the initial conception through to completion.
"We were kept informed of the progress of the project at all times and are very pleased with the result.
"Being at the forefront of research bioinformatics, this will be a showcase facility for the company, enabling us to provide our customers with the high quality services that they demand".
Continuing in its success, Kinetic was selected to furnish a new quality control facility for the Belfast-based international pharmaceutical and medical manufacturer, Ivex Pharmaceuticals, after visits to some of Kinetic's existing laboratory installations on the mainland.
Through the use of the highest quality materials purposefully developed to be readily adaptable for future expansion, Kinetic designed, manufactured and installed the project which included mechanical and electrical services, flooring and decoration of the laboratories within just six weeks from conception.
Angela Armstrong, quality control manager at Ivex, was highly satisfied with Kinetic's work from design through to completion.
She said: "We were very impressed with the quality, response time and general professionalism of the team undertaking the project and our scientists are delighted with the new light, airy feel to the laboratories."
