The new Datum-Y portable data logger from Yokogawa has a powerful range of communications capabilities including IPv6 (internet protocol version 6), for which it carries the 'IPv6 ready' logo
The Datum-Y portable data logger measures only 155x56x155mm and weighs around 800g, making it ideally suited to field service and maintenance applications.
It features a large TFT-LCD display with a wide viewing angle, and offers up to seven hours of continuous operation from its rechargeable battery.
The Datum-Y has a range of serial and parallel communications interfaces including USB, ethernet, GP-IB, RS-485 and RS-232.
It can function as a web server or FTP server or client, and also features an email delivery function.
The unit has 16Mbyte of internal memory, and additional storage can be provided by CF or SD memory cards or by a USB memory stick.
External memory can be used to provide auto-set and auto-run functions.
The instrument also has a universal input which makes it suitable for a wide range of measurements, including DC voltage up to 30V, all common thermocouples and RTD temperature sensors, and pulse and logic signals.
The Datum-Y is available in eight-channel and 16-channel versions.
Minimum sampling time is 100ms on eight channels and 200ms on 16 channels, and can be set at a number of values up to a maximum of one hour.
Alarm and trigger functions are included, and data can be manipulated using differential computation, linear scaling and statistical calculations.
The Datum-Y can be used in conjunction with clamp-on power meters and luminance meters for electrical or optical measurements, and a rubber boot is available for increased impact resistance and environmental protection.
