TeraView and Bruker Optics have deployed the first commercial terahertz imager in Japan to aid in the development of new pharmaceutical tablets and other solid forms, as well as root cause analysis
Takeda Pharmaceutical, Japan's largest pharmaceutical company, has recently acquired the terahertz tablet imaging system, TPI imaga 2000, which is the first of its kind deployed in Japan.
TeraView works closely with Bruker Optics in Japan and throughout Asia to supply its customers with total solutions to their needs in pharmaceutical R+D and manufacture, and provide vital on-going support and optimisation of the technology to meet evolving customer requirements.
Commenting on this success, Don Arnone, CEO of TeraView, said: "This order has significance because it gives Takeda access to innovative Terahertz tablet imaging technology, that will assist in the development of new and better drugs.

TeraView describes itself as the world's first company devoted to the application of terahertz light for spectroscopy and imaging in pharmaceutical drug development and manufacture.
TeraView's technology can improve the quality of pharmaceutical products and decrease the risk of regulatory non-compliance, leading to potentially safer tablets and savings arising from faster times to market and volume production of higher quality, stable products.
Other markets for the technology exist in early stage cancer detection, defense and industrial inspection which are explored via commercial partners.
Headquartered in Cambridge, UK, TeraView was spun-out of the Toshiba Cambridge Research Laboratory in April 2001.
Sales and support are available throughout Europe, North America and the Far East either directly or through a network of distributors.
Terahertz radiation lies in a region of the spectrum between the microwaves and infrared, and was the last unexploited region of the light and radio wave spectrum.
