Hugo Sachs Elektronik has taken its advanced perfusion technology and extended its utility across the full range of isolated heart model species
Based on the proven architecture of the class-leading IH-SR isolated heart system for mice and rats, HSE has perfected this technology for physiological measurement in guinea pigs and rabbits with the IH-5, and small pigs and dogs with the IH-9.
All three systems share in common the ability to perfuse under either constant pressure or constant flow conditions.
Constant perfusate flow is economically achieved through the tight control of a high-quality peristaltic pump, whereas constant perfusion pressure can be controlled indirectly via a proprietary servo controller or under the direct measurement of perfusate flow rate.
A recognised hallmark of HSE Isolated Heart Systems is the ability to switch between Langendorff (retrograde perfusion) and working heart (ejecting) operation, online, in the same heart, with just a few simple manipulations.
In addition, HSE Systems are the only ones to utilise a patented flow resistance and compliance chamber to more closely mimic in-vivo cardiac afterload.
