Following the success of Reliance Precision's components in its external ultrasound product, Oviscan, BCF Technology once again turned to Reliance to provide fine pitch precision gears and precision geared assemblies for its new internal ultrasound product, Duoscan.
The Duoscan is said to be the world's only 170deg angle viewing probe to use ultrasound technology to predict the early stages of pregnancy in livestock.
Early detection and confirmation of foetal numbers allows farmers to control the mother's nutrition, resulting in a higher survival rate.
Gear driven by an inbuilt motor, Duoscan requires a steady constant speed to produce clear ultrasound images and for ease of use the design criteria also demands miniaturisation.
BCF Technology knew that to achieve the exceptionally smooth motion required, only the highest quality gears could be used.
