ChemSW's Cispro MSDE chemical inventory system incorporates Microsoft's upgrade path for database solutions and adds new functionality
ChemSW has released Cispro MSDE, a new high-performance relational database system for tracking chemicals and other laboratory supplies.
Cispro MSDE not only puts the impressive power and robust functionality of CISPro onto user's desktops, but also leverages enhancements to Microsoft's MSDE (Microsoft SQL server desktop engine) which delivers a larger maximum database size and improved performance.
"Cispro MSDE is an easily deployable workgroup inventory solution with a reliable, modern database engine - Microsoft's MSDE," states Brian Stafford, ChemSW's president.
"Microsoft has upgraded its SQL server software to MSDE and we've not only also upgraded our solution to the new standard, but added some significant new and unique functionality as well".
MSDE is a simplified version of SQL server - perfect for a smaller workgroup needing the reliability of SQL server without the overhead.
Using MSDE allows ChemSW to leverage their many years of enterprise-class inventory management with SQL server, bringing enterprise level features and reliability to the workgroup.
"Cispro MSDE can help companies reduce procurement costs, meet regulatory reporting requirements, eliminate unnecessary purchases, and minimise disposal costs by maximising the use of available chemical supplies," Stafford adds.
"We stay abreast of changes in technology and reporting requirements, continually upgrading the system so our customers don't have to".
Cispro MSDE also delivers a significant set of new features, including:.
Enhanced security and control:.
New, upgraded security module for optimum configurability of permissions levels.
Container security by department or container owner.
Security now available on ordering module.
Over a dozen new configuration options added to personalise Cispro.
Enhanced container tracking:.
Track history of container movement.
Two additional tabs added for container details.
Container properties to further customise Cispro.
Dispose of missing containers not found in scan.
Batch operations for container transfer of location or ownership.
Split container to dispense from parent container to child containers.
Ease of use:.
MSDS management, now consolidated to one application.
Vendor and location forms now searchable.
Filtering of the chemicals list.
Ribm optimised: programmed mode now displays on videx and is automatically selected on upload.
Ribm drop down menu added to toolbar for most commonly performed tasks.
Configurability of custom location barcode labels.
Easier to set up and propagate:.
BDE is eliminated.
Minimal workstation configuration (no BDE, no mapped drive letter).
UNC is supported.
Leverage existing hardware:.
CISPro MSDE can use existing barcode scanners and selected thermal label printers.
From now until 30 June 2007, ChemSW will cut the upgrade price in half for companies which upgrade to Cispro MSDE, whether from an existing Cispro solution or a competitive solution.
That's a substantial savings to leverage a more sophisticated, robust solution that delivers numerous benefits.
