Medidata Solutions, a provider of electronic clinical data capture (EDC), management and reporting, and Icon, provider of outsourced development, have reached a two-year milestone in their partnership
Since February 2005, the companies have worked together to deliver Medidata's Rave EDC platform to biopharmaceutical companies around the globe and to date, Icon and Medidata have been awarded contracts from 19 companies for 37 clinical trials across phases I-IV, in a range of therapeutic areas.
Icon, an early adopter of EDC technology, was Medidata's first Aspire to Win partner.
This programme, which is based on a non-exclusive application service provider (ASP) partnership and business model, has enabled Icon to meet sponsor demand for Medidata Rave.
Icon has been able to offer the platform in-house by building and deploying studies with Rave certified resources, while the program has also allowed Medidata to implement Rave with a range of sponsors looking to streamline global clinical trials.
"Icon's proven ability to provide clinical research process and data management expertise complements Medidata's industry-leading technology and hosting services, offering sponsors a robust and flexible Rave implementation model," said Tarek Sherif, CEO of Medidata Solutions.
"We value our partnership with Icon and anticipate further success in 2007".
Tom O'Leary, global head of data management at Icon, added, "Our partnership with Medidata has proven extremely beneficial in enabling us to offer our growing customer base with a user-friendly, flexible solution to help drive further adoption of EDC for clinical trials worldwide.
"We look forward to building on the success of the past two years as we continue to provide innovative solutions to clients throughout 2007 and beyond".
Through this partnership, Icon and Medidata will continue to work together on marketing initiatives that demonstrate how EDC technology adoption can significantly enhance the clinical trials process.
