In order to attain the internationally recognised standard, P2i implemented a robust quality management system to ensure its customers receive the highest standards of service.
UK P2i has achieved BS EN ISO 9001:2000 accreditation for the design and manufacture of plasma polymerised coatings.
This includes detailed processes for continual improvement of P2i's quality systems and assurance of the company's conformity to future regulatory requirements.
"Attaining BS EN ISO 9001:2000 will bring numerous advantages for us, not least in assuring prospective customers that we are delivering a high quality product which has been independently verified," explains P2i's business development director, Ian Robins.
"With standard processes now being followed throughout the business and our drive for continuous improvement we are ensuring that P2i continues to deliver the highest possible levels of customer satisfaction.
"In a growing business operating in a technologically challenging environment, the drive for quality can often be overlooked and the umbrella of ISO9001:2000 ensures that P2i does not fall into this trap," adds Robins.
BS EN ISO 9001:2000 identifies eight quality management principles that can be used by P2i 's workforce and senior managers to improve the company's performance including such elements as customer focus, leadership, supplier relationships and people involvement with the aim of creating a more effective approach to managing the organisation.
How ion-mask works.
Ion mask is a unique process that provides a nanotechnology surface enhancement just nanometres thick, over the entire surface of a product by means of an ionised gas (cold plasma).
This layer is molecularly bound to the surface and is not removed by solvents, chemicals or common environmental conditions thereby ensuring that it will not leach away.
The ion-mask process transforms the surface of the product to display ultra low surface energy values down to one third that of PTFE (Teflon), displaying highly water and oil shedding properties; while leaving the other properties of the product unchanged.
The highly penetration process enhances both the inside and outside surfaces of any object and for porous items, will even enhance the surfaces within the porous structure, minimising liquid and vapour adsorption or penetration.
Ion-mask is being applied initially within the bio-consumables, filtration and performance textiles / footwear markets yielding unique performance characteristics.
