PTLI provides polymer testing services to major producers and end-users of plastics, elastomers, composites, packaging and films in the aerospace, automotive, medical devices, and other markets
Intertek's oil, chemical and agri group has acquired Plastics Technology Laboratories (PTLI), in Pittsfield, USA.
PTLI is an A2LA (ISO/IEC 17025:2005) accredited laboratory, providing the plastics industry with extensive expertise in mechanical, physical testing, thermal, rheological, flammability, analytical, weathering and electrical material evaluations for plastics, elastomers, composites, packaging and films.
PTLI is described as leading the industry in standard testing through its involvement in standards development with ASTM and ISO committees on plastics and online education tools.
The acquisition of PTLI enhances Intertek's polymer and plastic testing capabilities in North America and complements existing polymer and plastic testing laboratories in the global Intertek laboratory network.
Executive vice president Mark Loughead said: "The acquisition of PTLI enables Intertek to offer expanded and complementary services to our US customers and also internationally.
"PTLI's customers will also benefit from Intertek's diverse offerings and technical capabilities in addition to PTLI's core capabilities".
James Galipeau, general manager of PTLI, remarked: "We are excited about joining Intertek and becoming part of Intertek's global laboratory network.
"With the combined capabilities, we offer our customers a unique one-stop solution to their problems.
"With the strong financial backing of Intertek, there is an opportunity to invest in more capabilities that will extend our current capabilities and deliver benefits to our clients."
