35th anniversary is marked with the award of two bursaries to help support the early careers of young scientists
During its 35th anniversary year, Anachem says it wants to put something back into UK scientific research by awarding two major bursaries to help support young scientists.
Recently Sir Richard Henderson, director of the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Medicine in Cambridge accepted a donation of GBP5000 from Anachem.
This was in conjunction with the limited edition commemorative Pipetman launched in 2003 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the discovery of DNA by Watson and Crick.
Henderson states: "We are very grateful for Anachem's contribution that will enable our younger scientists and research students to attend scientific meetings to help further their careers".
In addition, a similar bursary has also been awarded to the new Leicester Warwick Medical School that saw its first students graduate from the Warwick campus in July 2004.
The new clinical sciences building at the site has also recently opened.
Professor Stuart Palmer, deputy vice-chancellor, says: "We are delighted that Anachem is helping to equip our new laboratories with the state-of-the-art technology that a company of its reputation can provide, and that our upcoming scientists can thoroughly benefit from the relationship".
