Version 3 of the LabWare Lims web browser interface provides a rich user experience in a true zero footprint solution that requires no code installation on the user's local desktop
LabWare has launched version 3 of its Weblims presentation layer, adding significant new capability and enabling a fully web-based deployment of its award-winning LabWare Lims product.
Weblims v3 is described as the most technically advanced web solution offered to date within the Lims marketplace.
By making extensive use of Ajax (asynchronous JavaScript and XML) components, LabWare says it has created a very rich and interactive user experience that rivals that of a Windows application.
Unlike other systems, this modern architecture requires neither customer-specific programming, nor local code installation at the user's workstation or handheld device.
Being purely browser-based, Weblims enables a truly zero-footprint implementation.
The complete adherence to true open computing standards also enables LabWare's Weblims to fulfill the promise of modern cross-platform computing.
Rather than obligating the use of a personal computer and a specific browser platform, this forward-looking design enables the use of a broad range of hardware form factors and browser technologies.
It is as compatible with PCs as it is with Macs and even hand held devices like the new Apple iPhone, and it functions identically on browsers as diverse as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, and Opera, says the company.
LabWare says its unique use of true technology standards raises the bar for the industry, and offers an assurance to customers that their investment in LabWare Lims is protected from future hardware and software evolution.
Weblims version 3 is at the forefront of LabWare's customer-focused initiatives to deliver a true zero-footprint web-deployable Lims without mandating major upgrades or costly system conversions.
Using their existing installed systems, and utilising many of the capabilities with which they're already trained and accustomed, LabWare customers are now able to design and dynamically publish their own web services for application integration within their enterprise.
Weblims serves as a presentation layer within the LabWare Lims product suite, and is compatible with customer's existing installations of LabWare Lims..
The architecture enables the customer to deploy the user interface as a completely browser-based solution, or as a hybrid approach operating in conjunction with thin clients.
"We deliberated for a long time about how to bring the best possible web solution to the Lims marketplace, and settled on an approach several years ago that has paid fantastic dividends for us and for our customers.
"Weblims v3 really brings it all together.
"This latest release leverages the most current and exciting technology in the web domain.
"Our customers have the option of a completely web-based LabWare Lims deployment that preserves their existing investment and can be implemented with minimal effect on their ongoing operations.
"We believe that it sets a new benchmark for web-based Lims in terms of functionality, ease of use and platform independence, each of which has been a hallmark of our product since the very beginning." said Vance Kershner, LabWare's president and chief executive officer.
