ChemBuddy is releasing Buffer Maker, a program which combines ease of use with flexibility, allowing you to select buffer and prepare recipe in a few seconds
Once you enter pH, Buffer Maker will suggest buffers of the highest buffer capacity, helping you to select from the database buffer that best suits your needs.
You can then enter temperature, concentration and ionic strength, and program will calculate on the fly what amounts of reagents - volumes or masses - have to be mixed, including inert salt used to fix ionic strength if needed.
Each buffer in the Buffer Maker is a combination of two reagents - these can be anything you may have standing on the shelf, be it solid sodium hydrogencarbonate or solution of ammonium dihydrogencitrate.
Each combination of reagents that can be used to prepare solution of requested pH will be treated correctly by the program - no matter if you try to acidify trisodium phosphate with oxalic acid, or mix hemisodium HEPES salt with sodium hydroxide, program will calculate what amounts have to be used.
Buffer Maker is built around powerful pH engine, capable of dealing with mixtures of multiprotic acids and bases, thus it is not haunted by the intrinsic limitations of commonly used Henderson-Hasselbalch equation.
Program comes with built in database of weak acids and bases, reagents and pre-set buffers.
Database is fully editable and can be modified any time, whenever it is necessary.
ChemBuddy still offers its older programs - CASC, concentration calculator with built in database of solution densities of over 300 substances, EBAS, program for reaction equation balancing and stoichiometric calculations, and BATE - pH calculator.
All programs share ease of use and consistent user interfaces.
Programs can be bought separately or as a ChemBuddy Suite that combine all four calculators.
