Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced that it will exhibit and host a seminar at the annual Pharmatex conference taking place at the Radisson SAS Hotel, Cork, Ireland, from 16-18 September 2008.
The seminar, entitled 'Near-infrared Analysis as a Process Analytical Technology (PAT) Tool for the Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical Industries', will take place in the Shanagarry Suite on 17 September from 2.00-6.00pm and will be hosted by Sheelagh Halsey, NIR technical support specialist from Thermo Fisher.
The seminar will provide an insight into how the pharmaceutical industry can use near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy to aid the understanding and improvement of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical processes.
NIR spectroscopy can measure organic materials non-destructively and often non-invasively, making it a viable solution for in-process analysis of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical materials.
The workshop will also explore current testing methods within pharmaceutical manufacturing and highlight some of the problems associated with these methods, such as downtime when waiting for results and the risk of over-blending.
It will include a question and answer session.
