Cellexus has announced the launch of the Cellmaker Regular disposal bioreactor system, designed for bacterial and yeast fermentation.
The Cellmaker Regular system is available in eight litre and 50 litre sizes and provides increased optical densities (ODs) and improved yields of soluble protein when compared with flask-grown cultures.
It uses Cellexusbags single-use, disposable cell culture bags, which allow fast set-up times and eliminate lengthy cleaning protocols.
Whereas other disposable systems require shakers, rockers, rollers or large environmental chambers, the Cellmaker Regular employs proprietary airlift technology to mix, aerate and maintain cell suspension.
Its controller allows for precise management of temperature (15-45C), bag pressure and flow of both air and oxygen into the culture.
Accurate control of these parameters enables optimisation of culture growth and improved expression levels of soluble protein.
The first public showing of the Cellmaker Regular will be at the IUL Instruments exhibition stand at the Biotechnica International Trade Fair held in Hannover, Germany, on 7-9 October 2008.
