Quantitech's Dr Gareth Pearson has booked an exhibition stand at the Association of Public Analysts Annual Conference, for which the analysis of chocolate and wine are among the main themes.
Quantitech has recently launched two new product ranges from Teledyne Leeman Labs: the Prodigy ICP spectrometer and the Hydra C mercury analyser, which it will exhibit at the conference.
The Prodigy is an ICP with fully simultaneous large format programmable array detector (L-PAD), continuous wavelength coverage (165 - 1100nm), selectable resolution and drift-free analysis.
Featuring a high dispersion spectrometer and long focal length (800mm) optics, it provides excellent resolution (0.008nm at 200nm) and low detection limits.
The Prodigy is suitable for applications such as the analysis of wine to confirm its provenance and to check for impurities.
The Hydra C direct mercury analyser employs thermal decomposition and atomic absorption, which Dr Pearson will demonstrate at the Quantitech stand.
No sample preparation is required for solids or liquids analysis and results can be obtained in under five minutes.
Dr Pearson anticipates a high level of interest in the Hydra C because of recent food scares relating to mercury.
The conference will take place at the Royal Station Hotel in Newcastle upon Tyne, 30-31 October 2008.
