Applied Scintillation Technologies (AST) is stepping up its marketing activities for 2009 to maintain its strong record of growth.
A restructured marketing department, new website and an increased international presence are some of the initiatives being implemented.
Sales and commercial director, Stuart Quinn, said: 'Following the management buyout of AST by TQ Scientific in 2007, we have the flexibility to react more quickly to changing market opportunities.
'We have enjoyed significant growth in our Caesium Iodide coating business for digital X-ray detectors in the dental and medical markets, as well as our glass scintillators and neutron detection screens for high-energy physics applications.' The marketing department has been strengthened by the appointment of Kerry Herbert as marketing assistant.
Kerry is a graduate in business management from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, and has experience with a number of local organisations as well as being marketing and press manager for a local charity in her spare time.
She will work closely with technical marketing specialist, In Press PR , to enhance the awareness of AST's capabilities worldwide.
One initiative already under way is a major overhaul of AST's website (www.appscintech.com).
'A major part of our business is conducted overseas', said Quinn.
'Our website is an extremely important marketing tool for us and our new site will be more flexible to provide a much more dynamic way to support our export activities.
'We will also be exhibiting at international exhibitions to explore new market opportunities', he added.
'We have already booked for the Laser World of Photonics 2009 exhibition in Munich in June 2009.'
