Perkinelmer will re-align its businesses into two areas, Human Health and Environmental Health, on 1 January 2009.
Perkinelmer's Human Health business will develop diagnostics, tools and applications to fight disease, provide better medical insight and create therapies.
It will include the company's genetic screening, bio-discovery and medical imaging operating units and will be led by Robert Friel, Perkinelmer's current president and chief executive officer.
The Environmental Health business will create safer products, more secure surroundings and efficient energy resources.
It will include the company's analytical sciences, laboratory services and detection and illumination operating units and will be led by John Roush, who currently leads Perkinelmer's optoelectronics business.
Perkinelmer will review a portion of its specialty lighting business as a result of the re-alignment.
The estimated 2008 revenue from this division is approximately USD90m.
Friel will unveil the new alignment later today in Shanghai.
