Amity has revealed that Virusolve has been providing the Forensic Science Service (FSS) with the level of cleanliness it requires to guarantee that evidence can not be called into question.
The FSS pioneered the development and implementation of DNA technologies.
It also paved the way for the establishment of the world's first DNA database, launched in April 1995.
Since 2005 FSS has been a 100 per cent government-owned company.
The change in status from a trading fund enables it to respond quicker to changes in the forensic science market and compete more effectively with other business in the field.
The FSS provides key services to people involved in criminal justice throughout the UK and overseas.
FSS's UK customers include police forces, HMRC, British Transport Police, the CPS and commercial organisations, while FSS's overseas involvement sees the FSS working with law enforcement agencies across the globe.
These services, developed in partnership with FSS's customers, encompass robustly validated techniques that draw upon the broad expertise gained from more than 60 years in the field of forensics; helping law enforcement agencies translate strategies for crime reduction into efficient and effective outcomes.
Delivering these services are some 1,300 scientists who are involved annually with: More than 120,000 cases; Attendance at over 1,500 crime scenes; Processing just under 500,000 DNA samples; Providing evidence in court on more than 2,000 occasions.
For more than three years Virusolve has been providing the FSS with the level of cleanliness it requires to guarantee that evidence cannot be brought into question.
