Nexus Medical Partners of the US and Rowan Dartington of the UK have between them invested GBP2.2m in Lab21, a specialist diagnostic services and products healthcare company.
Lab21 will use the funds to expand its presence in North America and Europe and to establish its US operations in South Carolina.
Lab21 expects to buy two European companies next year.
Nexus Medical Partners and Rowan Dartington have joined Merlin Biosciences and Kreos Capital as shareholders.
