The Institute of Clinical Research (ICR) is celebrating the first year of offering chartered scientist status with the announcement of the 100th member to be awarded the designation CSci.
Graham Belgrave, a clinical research consultant currently at Ipsen, has been an active member of the ICR for more than 20 years, attending the annual spring conference and numerous forums over the years.
He applied for chartered scientist status in order to continue to enhance his professional development.
The ICR offers four levels of membership from Affiliate and Registered membership (RICR) through to Professional member (MICR) and Fellow (FICR).
Practising Professional members or Fellows of the ICR with appropriate qualifications and experience are invited to apply for chartered scientist status.
Applications are assessed against a set of competencies laid down by the Science Council; entrants must be committed to Continued Professional Development and have their application supported by two referees.
The ICR is experiencing a high level of applications for chartered scientist status and it is expected that the number of CSci designated members will continue to rise in 2009.
