Armstrong Optical and Sydor Optics have won a contract to supply optical debris-shields for Project Orion, the Atomic Weapons Establishment's replacement high-energy laser facility.
Project Orion creates and studies hot dense matter and is the successor to the Helen (High Energy Laser Embodying Neodymium) laser, which is now more than 25-years-old.
Sydor Optics specialises in the manufacture of precision, flat-surfaced, parallel and wedged optics.
It performs double-sided processing of optics such as coloured filter glasses, glass wafers, mirrors, plate beam-splitters and windows.
Armstrong Optical provides optical metrology and imaging products and systems to diverse industries with an even broader variety of application requirements and supplies access to international optical-component manufacture and electro-optical sub assembly capacity.
