Invitrogen has announced that it has received the Ameristar Package Award from the Institute of Packaging Professionals for its Gibco cell culture bottle.
Invitrogen launched the redesigned Gibco bottle in October 2008 to offer scientists improved ease-of-use, more efficient storage and reduced sample contamination for cell culture experiments.
The bottle is the result of three years of collaborative research and development - that involved testing more than 30 prototypes - between Invitrogen, IDEO and Graham Packaging Plastics.
The end result was a redesigned bottle that provides improved ergonomics for 'under-the-hood' workflow, good handling and storage, easier identification and additional space for supplements.
