Metrohm has released a fully automated combustion ion chromatography (CIC) system.
The instrument combines a highly efficient combustion system with the separation power of ion chromatography.
CIC is capable of simultaneously analysing trace halide (F, Cl, Br and I) and sulphur compounds (as sulphate) in any non-aqueous sample matrix.
It is suitable for the rapid monitoring of organohalogen compounds in matrices such as coal crude oil, naphtha and liquefied petroleum gas.
After an upstream thermal oxidative digestion, which takes place in the combustion system, the liberated gases are trapped in an oxidising aqueous absorbent.
This is directly injected into the sample loop of a Metrohm 881 Compact IC Pro.
The MagIC Net software reliably controls the analysis and automatically calculates the sulphur and mass fraction for each sample.
