Lims-provider Starlims Technologies introduced the Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) at the Pittcon 2009 conference.
The Starlims Electronic Notebook eliminates the need for paper notebooks and enables labs to record data in electronic format.
This minimises lost data and transcription errors, streamlines data storage and retrieval and disseminates information as soon as it is created.
The Starlims Electronic Notebook is ideal for highly regulated environments such as laboratories working under GxP.
It can organise and manage information from routine and non-routine tasks.
It also allows organisations to tightly control the actions and sequence of tasks defined in standard operating procedures.
The Starlims Electronic Notebook maps each of the steps defined in a SOP to an electronic worksheet, which ensures all the required information is recorded, validated and complies with the prescribed method.
The result is an electronic record detailing each step in the analytical procedure, together with all the required supporting information (for example the materials, personnel, instruments and calculations employed in the process).
The Starlims Electronic Notebook is part of an integrated solution that includes Lims and SDMS.
It is a web-based application that provides immediate access to data and supporting documentation for any authorised user enterprise-wide.
It removes the need for multiple computing platforms, applications or interfaces, as well as for training users on the configuration, synchronisation and usage of multiple systems.
Depending on its specific priorities, each lab can select which components to implement first and add functions as needed.
