Fortis Technologies has launched an application note on the role of resolution versus efficiency in ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC).
Previously, we have all seen the increases that can be made from using smaller particles in UHPLC, improved efficiency leading to more resolution, sensitivity and speed of analysis.
However, the biggest gains in resolution come from the use of selectivity.
By having a range of phase chemistries available, the analyst can improve resolution, which can then also lead to speed increases.
All of these factors are discussed in the application note.
Fortis 2.1um particles for UHPLC are available in a range of selectivities, which allow the analyst to maximise this variable, increase resolution and speed.
Chemistries available include C18, C8, Cyano and the company's di-phenyl functionality specifically for positional isomers and metabolite profiling.
